I've said before, I adore well-written Yuusuke/Keiko, and this fic delivers... with their interactions at 9 years old. Awwwwww! I like how it shows, through a 9-year-old Keiko's perspective, glimpses of what Yuusuke's childhood must've been like with Atsuko as a mother, her parents's involvement in Yuusuke's life, and how she grew to never be afraid of him (I mean, back before Yuusuke died the first time he must've been quite the punk - ignoring his decent nature - and she clearly wasn't afraid to smack him around and yell at him). It's so cute and yet a little sad at times.

Hahahahahha. This is utter, utter crack, except it's amazing. Yu* Yu* Hakusho and Harry Potter may become one of my favorite crossovers, because it's just so interesting to see these two world interact. Voldemort cheated death... so Koenma sends his Tantei after him (oh man now I want to see Voldemort with Death from the Sandman - can you imagine that conversation!?!?). Tee hee!

Wow. I cannot even begin to explain how hard I've been looking for this fic. It's been in the back of my head since I made the decision to dig up all my favorite YYH fics and list them somewhere, and finally, FINALLY, I have found it! It's not even a huge epic or crazy drama - the story is basically "Kurama tells Hiei that the tape he gave to Yuusuke concerns Yukina" during the Rescue Yukina arc - but somehow, the dynamic of the two and the whole atmosphere of the story just stuck out in my head. Plus, Hiei at the end? Is basically what I kept remembering when I was trying to think of keywords that could help me find this fic (I kid you not, I went through pages and pages on ff.net... there's a lot of YYH fic out there @_@)

I have such a thing for good Yuusuke/Keiko fanfiction, where you can just see the connection and the pull between the two, and this fic delivers. This is why they are my favorite het couple, because it's real and it's not just hearts and flowers and one of you thinks of quitting at some point in time, but it's how you work through it and how much you want to work through it that counts. Yuusuke and Keiko have a talk.

Aging Love

I started reading this story because the premis intrigued me - Yuusuke, being at least half-demon now, ages a lot slower than a normal human being, whereas Keiko obviously ages as any human does. How will they work around this? The story is actually ramping up to include a much larger and complicated plot (as evidenced by all the cliffhangers - grrrr!), so I really hope we get to see more of it. There also appears to be some one-sided Botan/Kurama for now... which is not my personal cup of tea as I'm a Kurama/Hiei girl through and through, but the overall story promises to be very interesting ^_^

So... I mentioned before that I've gotten to the point where I tend to not read WIPs, yes? I'm starting to make exceptions now... because there are some WIPs in the YYH fandom with some truly fascinating storylines. I'd actually been looking all over for this fic 'cause I remembered reading it and I just found it - hooray! There are a couple of small typos here and there, but overall I find the premise of the story really intriguing - Hiei is a journalist photographer and Kurama works at a strip club owned by Yomi with Karasu as a steady client... you see what I mean? (And to be fair I obviously also want to just get to the place where they consummate their relationship already, geez XD), and I really really hope it gets updated sometime soon!

Ooohhhh wow... remember in the tournament where Hiei summoned the Kokuryouha for the first time? And he lost the use of his right arm after that? Well, what if the Kokuryouha was actually a sentient being Hiei had to bargain with before unleashing? I like this fic because it really shows how much Hiei has changed from the demon looking to just rule the world with zombie minions and doesn't care about anyone else but himself, while still staying in character, and it just makes me love him all the more ^_^ I just really like this portrayal of him.

Raining Like Magic

Ahhhhhh... this fic. It's lush and quiet and the whole story reads with a backdrop of downpour that thunders in the back of your mind as you fall into the story... as beautifully written as a silver youko running in the rain. Hiei chases Kurama... and claims what's his.

I mean, can you just imagine the two of them sitting together in the living room with sewing needles?? The mental picture just gives me the warm and fuzzies :P

Kurama is a creature of habit, but Hiei's been gone so long that he no longer needs to keep his window unlocked.... right? lady_flamewing does an amazing job of capturing both Kurama and Hiei's emotions while keeping true to their characters, from Kurama's angst in the beginning to the display in the end, and it is such a gorgeous flow of feeling.

Inferiority Complex

Kurama and Hiei have a conversation after Kurama's run-in with Karasu (the guy is creepy as hell, seriously). Or rather, Hiei gets Kurama to talk about his run-in with Karasu (instead of the other way around!). It's a rather dark piece, actually, but also beautifully written, and the pacing worked with the atmosphere really well.

So I kept seeing this fic popping up on all the ff.net people's favorite stories, and yet I kept resisting reading it (I forget why, I think it was due to some sort of misconception that this fic would be targeting all plot holes in the Yu*Yu*Hakusho timeline or something along those lines), but I finally caved... and I'm so glad I did. This is a hilarious yet true response to all the bad YYH fanfic out there, with emphasis on all the Kuwabara-bashing, and it is amazing. Kuwabara was never my favorite YYH character in terms of looks (I mean c'mon the other three are... prettier :P), but I've always had mad respect for him because dude, he's the only one of the Tantei that is 100% human. Think about it, he may have stronger than normal Rei powers, but Kurama and Hiei are both demons, and Yuusuke's a frickin' descendent of one of the most powerful demon kings out there, but Kuwabara manages to fight all his enemies on his own and never relies on any of the others to save him/help him out/etc (unless it's extenuating circumstances, and everyone has those, yeah?) My point is, he pulls his own weight even when dealing with demons and monsters while everyone else has supernatural powers to help out, and I respect him for that, I really really do.

The Walk to the Ring

'Cause I think that was the first time I saw him with a ponytail and I remember going "OMG KURAMA PONYTAIL SO PRETTY" or something along those lines) This is how Hiei helps him after that fight.
