This is why they are my favorite het couple, because it's real and it's not just hearts and flowers and one of you thinks of quitting at some point in time, but it's how you work through it and how much you want to work through it that counts. Yuusuke and Keiko have a talk.

Aging Love

I started reading this story because the premis intrigued me - Yuusuke, being at least half-demon now, ages a lot slower than a normal human being, whereas Keiko obviously ages as any human does. How will they work around this? The story is actually ramping up to include a much larger and complicated plot (as evidenced by all the cliffhangers - grrrr!), so I really hope we get to see more of it. There also appears to be some one-sided Botan/Kurama for now... which is not my personal cup of tea as I'm a Kurama/Hiei girl through and through, but the overall story promises to be very interesting ^_^

Yuusuke and Keiko are my other OTP in Yu*Yu*Hakusho, and I adore this fic because for once you get to see how much they genuinely care about each other. Like, I get the snark and the banter and all that is also their way of showing affection and their mode of interaction, but honestly, they must have really strong feelings for each other for Keiko to wait for Yuusuke for 3 years while he goes off to the Makai (that's like, not even long-distance, that's like a different world, and is he allowed to visit? Can they write/webcam?), and this quiet fic that depth of feeling perfectly. Yuusuke never breaks a promise he makes to Keiko.

I really like the emotion in the one, because it's so true, the entire Yuusuke leaving for the Makai for 3 years and Keiko waiting for him - it's hard, being in completely different worlds and being apart for so long, especially as teenagers (man do I feel old...), and yes, Yuusuke's revelation at the very end is so true (and makes me want to give him a hug).

The Best Defense & A Good Offense

I totally started rereading this fic to remind myself what to rec about it... and I almost didn't remember to go to sleep last night XD Yeah, it's that good.
A Best Defense is an amazing YYH/HP crossover that integrates all the demon culture and "magic" into the wizarding world at Hogwarts. In a nutshell, the Tantei (along with Genkai, Keiko, and Yukina) to go Hogwarts to protect the student body as a whole, and if they "happen" to run across Voldemort... well, to quote Yuusuke, they will "kick his ass" XD You can imagine what sort of shenanigans they group gets up, especially after meeting the HP crowd. Genka is the new DADA teacher (OMG can you imagine taking classes from her!?), the twins are irrepressible, The Golden Trio do their thing, and Draco is The Malfoy Git (there actually isn't much HP slash in here that I can tell, now that I think of it, but you barely even notice it because you're just caught up in the story - although there were many times I just wanted to scream at Draco for being such a brat).
A Best Defense sidefics - don't read these until you've finished reading A Best Defense - you'll need the background and don't want to be spoiled. Little slices of insight regarding the various characters impacted by the merging of the two cultures.
A Good Offense (WIP as of this rec) - I haven't actually read this fic (ducks and runs), because I'm going through a period where I don't read a story until it's done (yes I hate suspense, I'm still living through that whenever I buy a new volume of manga and then go noooooooo that's IT!?!?), but considering the quality of The Best Defense, I'm highly certain this will be as good, if not better... especially with some of the plot points in The Best Defense ^_~ Another year at Hogwarts for the Tantei.

I stumbled upon these when I was devouring Yu*Yu*Hakusho fanfic, and dear lord these are hilarious. Featuring some amazing original characters with very distinctive personalities, as well as meaty enough plot to satisfy (oh yes). Go read them one by one NOW.
