Thor is captured and brainwashed/conditioned before Loki can find him. I adore how griseldajane writes Loki's dialogue - he's always had such an elegant and eloquent way of speaking in the movie, and griseldajane does all of that justice - and so much more - in her writing; I can hear Loki speak when I read this piece. Also I love pieces that explore Loki's complex emotions regarding his brother, which ultimately end up in him (not always happily) admitting that he cares about Thor, and this delivers in spades.

(The rest of her stuff is gorgeous too).

I love "slices of life" fics, but this... it's as much Odin/Frigga as it is Thor/Loki, and it's the Odin/Frigga I wanted for the movie, where Odin and Frigga are genuinely good parents (or at least they try - which is honestly what parenting is all about), and Loki gets all the affection I wish he'd received in the movie (even though, true to his movie self, his issues are still there). Beautiful story of the family all growing up together, and loving each other through it all, like families do.

(How have I not discovered Thor RPS until now - although sometimes I have problems differentiating between Loki/Thor and Tom/Chris, oops :P) Tom the escort with Chris the drug lord. The premise sounds super cliche, but the story is a beautiful AU with Tom being a numb, bitter thing that survives life until he meets Chris (not to say everything was immediately hearts and roses). I fell in love with this story the way Tom fell for Chris - both instantaneously, and also slowly through the chapters. It's painful and heartbreaking and utterly, utterly gorgeous.

Secret Identities

Gorgeous story of how Loki comes to terms with himself, with Thor, and with his place in Asgard, that diverges from canon once Odin falls into the Odinsleep. There are still some unresolved issues (I don't think he's quite ok with being a Frost Giant, even after everything), but his slow coming around to how he fundamentally feels for Thor, and his acceptance of others' love for him, is everything I wanted for Loki (I've said this before and I'll say it again, everything would be so much better if everyone just hugged Loki more >_<).

So I just watched Thor: Ragnarok last night (SO GOOD SO GOOD IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT GO SEE IT RIGHT NOW), and of course my first reaction after was to mainline all my favorite fanfic sites for fic, because 1) the whole set of Avengers characters lend themselves to beautiful fanfic, and 2) WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ACTUAL HUG WE WERE PROMISED, WTF. This fic both soothes my hug-cravings and also fulfills my Thor/Loki kink - and beyond being burning hot, it's funny. I think hilarious banter/bickering during sex may be my new favorite thing. Mmmmm.

When I first read this, none of the rest of the series existed (which means I should go read it now, ha). This is a beautifully involved story of the "side-characters," if you will - not Harry, Ron, Hermione, etc - but of Neville and all the students left behind in that year when the Golden Trio went Horcrux-hunting, how they survived with Death Eaters at Hogwarts, and strove to be "ready" when the Golden Trio returned. Gorgeous read.

Giles and Ethan have a run-in with a strange mark in the sky, and curious robed figures... and it expands from there. This is an brilliant BtVS/HP crossover, with very believable characterizations, and it answers my question from the minute Harry could hear his parents's last minutes when Dementors showed up of "why didn't Voldmort just kill Lily that night, why did he just keep telling her to step aside?" Honestly, I really wish this story just went on and on and never ended, because the possibilities are so endless and intriguing, and I found myself re-reading paragraphs and lingering over sentences (for instance, for some reason this sentence really struck something within me: "The grin with which James Potter greeted this rather prosaic question was the unmistakable symptom of a man gone silly with love"), anyways, really, why is there no more of this story!?!?!?!?

The Maddest House

Sirius takes Harry and raises him in a world where Voldemort never died, while figuring things out with Remus. This is an interesting take on what could have happened that Halloween, and I really love the direction they've taken with the whole Harry-is-one-of-Voldemort's-Horcruxes thing, especially in relation to how a piece of Voldemort's soul is in Harry. I had some trouble understanding what all happened in the final scene (mainly 'cause it was very descriptive and I think I was trying too hard to visualize it), but it made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made me love. Beautiful.

Accio Stone

I loves stories about the Potter family that-would-have-been, and this was a treat - I love there are events of the first book woven into the story. Also, that whole scene with Lily and how she became the way she was initially? Ugghhh. I am incoherent.

It's beautiful (I've always wanted to see the Weasley twins interact with MWPP, can you imagine the shenanigans they'd get up to!?) but it's so, so heartbreaking, especially the ending, and I cry every single time I read this story. Just... oh Padfood and Moony ::sobs::
