When I picked up Yu*Yu*Hakusho again after many years (I'd first read the manga in junior high, and watched episodes of the anime religiously), I could not find this one scene in the anime that I could've sworn I'd seen before, between Shizuru and Sakyou, which was nothing more than 5 seconds-ish but heavily implied that the two of them knew each other/had a relationship before/something along those lines. Nothing in either the manga or any of the anime that I've re-read/re-watched even suggests this, so I don't know whether I hallucinated that or was making things up, but the idea of this pairing has stayed in my head, and Madhumalati realized my dream by writing this. I love the interactions, how they're so true to themselves and not really saying anything but you can feel how much they care about each other even though nothing of the sort is mentioned verbally. And I can't quite tell whether I'm happy or wistful at the ending.
